Why did you choose to work in social care?
I have always been keen to help people, even from a young ago so starting a career in health & social care at 18 seemed like the right choice for me.
Have you always worked in adult social care?
Before starting my career, I worked in a supermarket café whilst studying my A Levels.
What is your role?
I am the Director & owner of L A Care Ltd and we support the elderly, disabled and end of life clients.
What does your role involve?
All sorts can affect the day: Road works, flat tyres, school closures, kids unwell, clients falling ill and carers running late. The list is endless but we always ensure that the clients are visited on time with a carer they know – a gold standard service.
As the director of a small business I oversee all areas of L A Care. I do things like auditing, capacity meetings, review meetings, setting up new clients, training for the employees, supervisions, finance stuff.
Being a small business, you become a Jack of all trades! I support the whole team and ensure we provide an outstanding service to our clients.
