Why did you choose to work in social care?
I was working as an Administrator for a company and didn’t like the work. My mother had received care four times a day for a number of years and so I became interested in care.
I was a voluntary Community First Responder with the South Central Ambulance service going out to 999 calls and giving first aid.
What skills are needed for your role?
Nothing specific really but keyboard skills, administration skills, organisational and communication skills and empathy are an advantage.
What is your role?
I started as an administrator and am now the Office Manager for Crossroads Care Oxfordshire, and have worked here for 3 years.
We support mostly elderly people but do support some children in their own homes.
What does your role involve?
I answer the phone and deal with PASS alerts, and add clients to the PASS.
I deal with visitors and scheduling and cancelling visits.
I support with administration associated with grants, and anything and everything that comes up.
