Domiciliary Care Worker
Working with people who need direct care and support
As a Domiciliary Care Worker you will be responsible for an individual’s overall comfort and independence. You could work in a residential or nursing home, in peoples’ own homes, or out in the community. You could also be a live-in carer, living with an individual over a specified time period.
The role involves working directly with people and providing 1-1 care. You will also be creating and maintaining good relationships with the people you support, their family and friends, and other healthcare professionals.
A Domiciliary role may involve:
Assist with household tasks
Assist with personal care
Occasional escorting to doctors appointments or hospital visits
Support with washing and dressing
Helping with food preparation
Skills Needed
- The ability to treat people with dignity
- Patient, kind, and sympathetic
- Good listening and observational skills
- The ability to follow company policies and procedures (i.e. health and safety)
